Why We Our Love For Robot Hoover (And You Should Also!)
The Best Robot Hoover

The most effective robot vacuum will clean and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It will also leave them spotless. Its affordable price and high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.

Check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris as well as hair. Wash them when necessary. Some models also self-empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin at the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.

1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They have motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model), they use intelligent mapping to design precise floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also have the feature of Carpet Boost that increases its power when it detects dirt on the carpet.

Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our bare floor tests and are particularly effective in cleaning pet hair. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the Q5's shortcomings is its navigation system does not feature AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It doesn't also have a camera to see around corners.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also very quiet and works while you are at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming offered by the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping. It relies on disposable wet wipes that don't stick very well and cannot handle dried-on debris. The Q5 does come with self-emptying docks, however. If you need to clean the mopping pad, it can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.

2. IRobot Roomba

The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive mopping and vacuuming capabilities into a sleek, compact package. Its smart cleaning maps and fluid navigation make it simple to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also comes with self-emptying dustbins with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it isn't as effective as some of its competitors when it comes to deep cleaning.

This top-performing mop and vacuum combo makes use of advanced sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste, and it learns the layout of your home over time for more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. Its battery life is average compared to similar models.

You can tell the X30 Ultra to remove its mops and to extend them when in a room with carpet which prevents cross-contamination. Its flex arm is also perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It's not as efficient on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.

During tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire home, and it did so with the battery at 66 percent left. It also did a good job cleaning a range of floors and rooms that had different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was excellent and it was able to avoid fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.

It's more expensive than the iRobot Combo v9+ and iRobot Roomba j9+, however, it comes with superior suction, an onboard dustbin that automatically emptys into its base, and also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It is able to clean floors even after it has vacuumed. This is a feature that we haven't seen before on other robot vacuum/mop combination.

3. Roomba X40 from iRobot

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba unit than the boxy models of the rivals. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology and future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can autonomously wash mop pads).

It's the only robotic vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors that include a camera, structured light system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an the industry's highest suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's an eerily noisy device that could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally capable and better looking. If you're willing to live with a bit more noise and some additional cost, this is a very efficient two-in-one device that should delight most.

iRobot L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features to help you get rid of your chores. Similar to Ecovacs' range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of vacuuming and mopping, with a multifunction dock that automatically emptys the vacuum's trash bin, refills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot utilizes LIDAR and structured lighting to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles. It navigates more intelligently than its top competitors. It also comes with a front-mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was often confused with obstructions or power cords.

Its vacuum has a high maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the intensity at which the vacuum works and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for different areas of the home in accordance with how dirty they tend to be.

If you have a bigger home, it is worth choosing a model that has spot or zone cleaning mode. This allows you to instruct the robot on which part of your home must be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stairway mode is useful if you own a large furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge function and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to pick up where it left off can be very useful.

5. iRobot Roomba RX3

The RX3 is a smarter cleaner than you'd imagine from its price. It is a great job vacuuming, picking up 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). remote hoover mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that is cleaner than the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a fully-featured app as well as a self-emptying, washable base.

The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping run that gathers information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you mark on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or organize a spot-clean. It can also be used to it to prioritize the most soiled areas to improve performance. The app has a range of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It is equipped with an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction, as well as clever combs for removing pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner that thoroughly cleans the area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and more affordable alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are designed to resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to be caught by low thresholds and is more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've tested. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
