The Advanced Guide To Robot Vac
Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum is able to keep floors clean enough to reduce the frequency you'll need to manually vacuum. Choose one that has good navigation, can clean stairs and corners and has a huge dust bin that has to be emptied only periodically.

There are also models that can mop and charge on their own This feature could be beneficial for those with pets or kids. The top performers in our tests have good obstacle avoidance.

1. IRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is similar to its sibling i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. This makes the i3+ an excellent option for those who want an automated, hands-free cleaning experience, but aren't afraid of manually emptying their robot's dustbin as it gets full.

Both robots are good in removing dirt and dust particles on hard floors and carpets, and they can easily move around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes a smart map of your home to assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. The i3+ doesn't feature obstacle avoidance features like the i7+ or other top-rated robots that we tested. It may get stuck on power cords and socks and have difficulty navigating between different surfaces like rug and hardwood.

iRobot suggests cleaning up the area where the i3+ EVO vacuums prior to using it. This includes putting away any toys or other clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the filters and dust bin free of dirt to prevent them from becoming clogged. When smart robot i3+ EVO's internal bin is full or its battery is depleted it will return to its docking station, automatically empties its debris into the station's dust bin and then resumes cleaning the area where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of continuous usage. It takes 3 hours to fully charge.

2. Roomba by iRobot

The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in the iRobot flagship line, and it is equipped with the most recent features. It has self-charging and self-navigating. However, the most important feature is its auto-emptying bin. This removes the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ can keep up to 10 floor plans and their names with Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that lets it create maps of rooms so that it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning jobs and control your robot with voice or via the app.

In our testing the i7+ was quicker and more maneuverable than our runner-up, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it picked up large pieces of pet hair from all surface types, including carpeting. The biggest benefit over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin which removes a major source of maintenance and lowers the cost of maintenance.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant AI services. We utilized these services to instruct the robot to begin, stop, or pause cleaning sessions as well as move around the room, and to vacuum a particular area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ to these services. After connecting, we were able to use the i7+'s voice commands such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home app also provides options to manage the i7+'s settings and monitoring its performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

In a world full of vacuums with cords that are like minivans and buses, this tiny Dyson model is a sports car. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but it is also compact enough to fit on a coffee table or bookcase.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell energy-dense lithium-ion battery that produces energy that is not faded for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system traps allergens, then releases fresh air into your home. The specialized head uses rigid nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and collect large particles or fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to meet the task being performed. It is able to quickly switch from floor vacuum to handheld vacuum and vice versa.

This model has a dock which charges the Dyson to 100 percent in 3.5 hours. It also gives the ability to connect two attachments and the wand. This is a huge improvement over previous Dysons that require a lengthy charge and are difficult to store.

The main drawback of the V10 is its limited run time. The tests conducted by CR show that its marketing claims of up to 60 minutes are not true. This is a standard, not exceptional, battery-powered vacuum's run time. It's still enough time to vacuum the majority of a typical-sized home however, it's not enough to clean every area (though an additional run-through often can be effective). That's not to say this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and maneuverable than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably superior on carpets with a low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694"

One of the most well-known robot vacuums, the 694 is a basic model that's a good choice for people who don't want to spend too much on a robot. It's capable of sucking up a variety of types of debris and sizes during our tests, and often passes over the same areas multiple times to give a thorough clean. Its flat front end helps it to reach into corners and along the walls' edges, which is a nice touch.

Its intelligent navigation system makes use of iAdapt technology to steer clear of obstacles and navigate your home. It's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more advanced models, including our top picks, i3+EVO and j7+ Series. It can get stuck on cords for phones or furniture that is low and often runs out of power before returning to its original location.

The Xiaomi Mi robot vacuum is superior to the Roomba 694 in most respects in that it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is fitted with an allergen-trapping HEPA filter, has lower recurring costs, comes with more advanced automation capabilities and is more efficient in moving itself. It also has a larger dustbin and charges quicker.

The eufy RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also has physical boundaries and can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and can perform better on floors with bare or low-pile.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a household name in the field of home electronics. It's not surprising, then, that they are also among the top manufacturers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacles avoidance.

The app provides a range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include mopping levels, virtual barriers and behavior modifications docking frequency settings and more. smart robot is easy to navigate and use as are other Samsung devices.

In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors. It cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). It did not do well in avoiding taller items like cords or socks. This was disappointing. It's also a bit more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

The app allows you to access the camera onboard of the smart vacuum. You can also create live streaming from the robot's area of cleaning. This feature lets you monitor your pets or kids when you're away from home. The dustbin and the filter can be cleaned to ensure the quick and easy cleaning. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with a self-emptying clean station, which helps keep the bin clean and improves suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Contrary to other robotic vacuums which are designed for both carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are specifically designed for hard floors. They have a wider cleaning path as well as a large dustbin that holds 2X more debris than the competition to keep the area clean for the longest time. They also include two side sweepers that can be used to clean around corners and edges. The POWERSERIES Extreme model also comes with AutoSense technology, which senses whether it's picking up dirt on surfaces or embedded dirt and then automatically adjusts its power level. The vacuum also comes with an app that lets users to see the virtual map, manage functions, and create schedules. You can also check the status of the vacuum and connect it to its dock for charging with the touch of a single button. The app also allows you to personalize the lights on top of the vacuum using different colors so you can easily tell the areas where it's focused or where it's gotten stuck.

The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually in the event of need. My living room rug for instance, has a darkly-colored border that could cause trouble for other robots. However, the HRV 425BL kept moving across the border without registering it as an incline. Also, the ability to program a weekly cleaning schedule is a great time-saving convenience.
