Bedside Cot Reviews: 10 Things I'd Like To Have Known Earlier
Bedside Cot Reviews
A bedside crib (also known as a bassinet) is located close to your bed to allow you to be able to tend to baby during night feeds and changing nappy without getting out of the bed. These cribs are great to help develop independence in your child as they get more comfortable in their own space to sleep.

The cot's sliding side panel raises and lowers at the press of the button, making it a breeze to reach inside and soothe a baby at night. It also comes with 11 height adjustments that let it accommodate the mattress of nearly any size bed and it comes with adjustable feet that fold down to make sure that it sits at just the right level.
In terms of safety the cot is cushioned and has mesh sides for better airflow, and the mattress is made from high-density foam for additional protection. It is also wipeable which means you can keep the cot clean. It comes with a fitted mattress sheet that can be used for the crib.
Contrary to other cribs that are bedside unlike other cribs for bedside use, the Roomie Glide is suitable for all beds, including divans, thanks to its straps and clip attachment. It can be used as a standalone crib if it isn't connected to the bed. It is packed with wonderful features designed with the idea of parent-child bonding in mind.
One thing to bear in mind is that while this crib is great for newborns, it won't last long after your child is six months old, so you will have to purchase larger cots. Overall, Roanna thought that the Joie Roomie Glide crib was an excellent buy. She loved its sleek design.
John Lewis sells the Roomie Glide for PS160. Roanna thought this was a fair price for such an item. She also liked how it looked in the bedroom and believed that the grey shade will work well in modern homes. However, she did point out that it isn't a great idea to rock a smaller baby because it can set an unhealthy habit that can affect later sleep patterns.
The Tutti Bambini CoZee
The Tutti Bambini CoZee is an award-winning bedside crib that was designed with a safe night's sleep in mind. It has an adjustable side rail that can be easily lowered to feed your child during the night without disturbing them or causing them to get out of bed. This is great for mothers who breastfeed! It's also lightweight and easy to move around during naps or for travel.
We love that it's made from soft materials with breathable mesh sides that promote airflow and ease of use. It's available in oak and charcoal and has a variety of melange fabrics that are compatible with all decor styles. Anna found it to be solid and secure when it was attached to her bed. The legs slid into place and the zippers were secure to ensure security. It took Anna about 10 minutes to put it together and didn't require any tools. There are clear instructions as well as a video, and a customer service number should you experience any issues.
As well as the usual features you'd expect from a crib for your bed, like being able to connect to your existing bed with a stay-in-place connector system and six height levels The CoZee also comes with an additional incline option which can be used to help alleviate reflux or congestion in babies. It's also machine washable, a necessity for all the dribbles and vomit that comes with having a new baby!
The CoZee is an excellent choice to keep your child close during their first six months of learning to fall asleep independently. It can be used as a cot, changing station and toddler bed. With cotsfortots of a sofa-bed extension pack, it could transform into a cot. It will not feed your baby or magically put them to sleep it will rock them to send them off!
The Chicco Next2Me Magic
This is one of Chicco's more expensive alternatives. However, it has numerous amazing features. It's designed to be used as a side sleeper or standalone crib and is suitable for babies up to six months. It is easy to open and close the side panel with the new mechanism. It's also more flexible than its predecessor, with 11 different height levels as well as feet that retract to installation under any bed.
Our testers were impressed with the simple access to the side panel that can be lowered and raised at the touch of a button. This was particularly useful during nighttime feedings as they could reach in and pick their baby up without waking them.
The side panel can be lifted by itself, but it's not recommended as this increases the risk of your baby falling out of the cot. The safety locking system guarantees that the side panel will only stay down if it is attached correctly to the mattress of the parent. This feature is fantastic for peace of mind if you're breastfeeding and require frequent nighttime feeds.
Telescopic legs permit the Chicco Next2Me Magic to be used with any bed, including divan bases and beds with drawers. It also comes with an option to tilt for babies with reflux and a rocking feature to bring them back to sleep after eating. It's also very large and has great ventilation due to its mesh sides.
Our testers found the Next2Me Magic easy to set up and use, however it does come with a long instruction manual. It is a little heavier than other side-sleepers but it can still be easily moved from one place to another. It's small enough to fit in a travel bag when not in use, which is an advantage in the event that you have to transport it. The only issue our test subjects found was that the side panel didn't flex as much as the other models, which made it a little harder to see your baby from your own bed.
The Shnuggle Air
The Shnuggle Air bedside crib is a great option when you're looking for an infant crib that will grow with your child. It's a co-sleeping crib that can be attached securely to your bed and can be turned into a stylish cot once your baby is old enough. It is ideal for feeding your baby at night and enhancing the bond you have with your new born.
Contrary to other models of bedside crib, the Shnuggle Air is built with breathability in mind. Its dual-view mesh sides as well as the airflow mattress, which is hypoallergenic and breathable increase airflow to keep your baby cool and comfortable. The gentle slope helps ease reflux and colic. The zip-down side lets you to feed your baby or soothe them at night.
The conversion kit for cots (sold separately) is also well-designed, with clear directions and everything you need to begin. It took us around an hour to assemble and was fairly simple to put together. The only drawback to the instructions was that some pictures did not have captions. This made it difficult to follow. However, it was an easy procedure and the quality of materials employed was of a high standard.
In the co-sleeping mode, we discovered the Shnuggle Air to be an excellent option for breastfeeding mothers and women who have had a c-section as it allows them to easily reach out to their infant for feeding and comfort without having to leave their bed. It's also great for parents who prefer not to go through the stress of getting into and out of a traditional cot or putting their baby down for a nap.
The motion of gliding was found to be extremely helpful in lulling babies into sleep following feedings during the midday or at night. The drop-down side is also easily accessed to feed or soothe babies during the middle of the night, which was a real benefit for our exhausted test mothers. The Joie Roomie Glide is a sleek and functional crib that doesn't rock nor does it come with extra features like an audio system.
